A great choice for a “house wine”, this is a fresh and lovely red wine, made with Sangiovese grapes – the basis of Chianti – grown on the same land that give rise to Chianti.
A reviewer notes that this is “a highly drinkable, supple, appealing, medium-bodied Tuscan red that is a Chianti in all but name. Lots of strong, lean, cherry fruit flavors at first, with a more complex structure of woody tobacco and leathery touches emerging. Great with all kinds of pasta with meat sauces, pizzas and light meats.”
Made from 100% Sangiovese grape this wine is classified as Sangiovese di Toscana, meaning the winemaker has free reign to make a characterful Sangiovese, without having to adhere to the Chianti DOCG rules.
